And they did more. They purchased $72,209 worth of these certificates. Their deeds are being hearld-ed hearld-ed througdtout the state and nation. The quick response to the call of our nation by Mount. Pleasant is being used as a stimulus for other cities. List Saturday, E. V. Smith, Vice-State Chairman of the War Savings Committee for Utah sent in an order for fifty more copies of the Pyramid for use in stimulating the sale of War Savings Certificates in other parts of the state. He paid a very high compliment to the Pyramid for its splendid work. The following communication communica-tion was received Wednesday from Honorable Geo. T. Odell, State Director of War Savings : Salt Lake City, Utah, August 13, 1918. Mt. Pleasant Pyramid, Burke McArthur, Publisher, Mt. Pleasant, Utah. My dear Mr. McArthur:- I am in receipt of a copy of your paper of July 26th and I want to compliment you and all those associated with you in behalf be-half of the National War Savings Sav-ings Committee for the wonder-' wonder-' ful work that has been done in Sanpete County and particularly at Mt. Pleasant as evidenced by the front page of your paper Yol. XXVIII, .No. 35. I shall take great pleasure in forwarding a copy or this paper to the National War Savings Committee, Frank A. The Pyramid has donated hundreds of. dollars to the government since the war broke out and we don't expect ex-pect a cent in return. We are glad a have been able to do it. If we tad had more money we would have done more in helping Uncle Sam defeat de-feat the hun. The newspapers of the United States have given the government gov-ernment more than a hundred million dollars since we declared war on the emy of liberty, and the-Pyramid "as done its best in stimulating quick actlon and response to every call, and the result has been that this community com-munity in which the Pyramid is circulated cir-culated has been foremost in our fair "tate in taking the lead in much war ork.
