Pleasant North Ward chapel, for Elder Joseph Frankhn Beely, who was overcome by gas v.h le taking a bath Friday evening, even-ing, Mirch 29, at Independence, Mo. The chapel was fill e"d with relatives and, friends of the Seely family. It was the largest funeral ever held in thus city. Bishop H. C. Jacobs conducted con-ducted the services. Elder George C. Lloyd told of tne death of Elder Seely, caused by gas asphyxiation, while taking a bath. Elder Seely was alone at the time of his death. When found by Elder Lloyd, physicians were called in uui were unable to revive him. Elder Glade paid a beautiful tribute to the memory of Elder Seely for his integrity and diligence in performing his duty in the missionary field. "Jesus "Je-sus Lover of My Soul" was sung by Emil Hafen, Miss Venetta Stansfield, Miss Goldie Neilson and Willard Barton. Bar-ton. Elder James Leonard Tidwell, who left here on June 9, 1915, in company with Elder Seely for a mission mis-sion to the Central states, spoke in highest esteem of his departed companion. com-panion. He said that he never heard a word spoke against Elder Seely, who was loved by all who knew him. He made friends where others failed. Pres. C. N. Lund spoke of the excellent excel-lent character of the Seely family, and Miss Eva Simpson rendered a violin solo. Elder Joseph W. McMurrin Mc-Murrin conveyed the sympathy of the First Presidency of the Church to- the bereaved family. He stated that' Elder Seely always had a willingness will-ingness to do good. Elder McMur-min McMur-min gave an eloquent address, speaking speak-ing of the beautiesi of life and the glorious hope in the resurrection. Bishop Jacobs made the closing remarks, re-marks, and "O, My Father" was sung by the quartet. Pres. A. Merz offered of-fered the closing prayer. The grave was dedicated by Bishop Burt Seely of Ephraim. Among others who came here to attend the services were John and N. G. Stringham of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart R. Seely, and Miss Fern Birch of St. Anthony, Ida., Mrs. L. Gardiner and daughter, Miss Ethel Wilson of Thistle, Ed. Olsen of Prnvn Frnnk Olsen of Chester. Mrs. P. C. Meiling of Payson, Bishop Orlando Or-lando Bradley, Mrs. Thomas Hall, James Larsen and Neils Olsen of Moroni. Mor-oni. Elder Joseph Franklin Seely was the Bon of Joseph Seely of the Mt. Pleasant North Ward Bishopric. He was born April 6, 1894. He filled a successful mission in the -Central states and was honorably released just before death called him. He is remembered by all who knew him for his gentile and pleasant disposition and good character. |
