The campaign conducted con-ducted by the department of justice against the high cost of living will be ended and the entire fair price organization disbanded November 1. Letters have gone out from the department de-partment to all fair price committees commit-tees and all others engaged in the campaign, advising them of the department's de-partment's decision to conclude this work, officials at the department stated Friday. Department officials said that, while the campaign had been successful, suc-cessful, the immediate reason for closing up the work was a lack oi funds. It was declared that the dissolution of the organization in the cost of living liv-ing campaign would have no effect on the department's drive against violators violat-ors of the Lever food control act. Instructions lately have gone out from the department to district attorneys at-torneys to pay close attention to all trade organizations with a view to ascertaining whether they have operated oper-ated as a combination in restraint of trade. President Wilson has requested Governor Gov-ernor Allen of Kansas to forward to the federal trade commission any information in-formation he has tending to indicate that the recent decline in wheat prices was due to unfair practices or competition com-petition or to other artifical causes. |
