Show Hold Up At Heber Power Plant It seems that of late Mr. and Mrs Chas. F. Bigler of Midway have had domestic troubles that have engendered engend-ered considerable ill feeling between the couple and which have finally taken the form of a divorce proceedings. proceed-ings. Mr. Bigler has been employed employ-ed at Park City recently and no doubt has brooded over the home affair considerably. Last Monday Jan. 13th he decided to come home and give a tragic ending to the affair by killing his wife and then commuting suicide. To this end he armed himself witn a revolver and considerable whiske.v and started from Park City. On the way he drank freely of the liquor but all went well until he reached the Heber Light and Power Plant, when he decided to go inside and get Warm. Soon he began to relate his troubles to the employees at the plant and succeeded by so doing in working himself up to a frenzy. He made the threat that when his wife should meet him at the door he would Bhoot her and then kill himself. He also stated that should the sheriff sher-iff attempt to prevent his carrying out his plan he too would become a victim. It is said that Mr. Bigler was told that he would not dare nor attempt to do any such thing, whereupon where-upon he whipped out a gun and ordered ord-ered Mr. Clegg into a corner under cover of the ugly looking muzzle. Mr. Parley Cliff then tried to inter cede in behalf of Mr. Clegg when he too was given a private abiding place in the building. Whde these two were thus being entertained Mr. Nels Anderson happened to come in and the enraged man took him fr be the srieriff against whom he had made the above named threat. Mr. Anderson And-erson was forced to protect himself by dodging behind parts of the fixtures fix-tures in the room and would likely have been seriously hurt had not Mr. Cliff escaped from the building. As soon as Mr. Bigler saw what had happened he ran to his horse and rode away, apparently thinking that arms would soon be used against him. The sheriff was immediately, informed in-formed by telephone as to what had happened and what was likely to happen 60 win Marshal McCarrel and Marshal Bronson entered the Bigler home and waited lor the coming com-ing of Mr. Bigler. Soon he entered without knocking as he had intended to do and faced the sher ff's gun. Nothing daunted he reached for his own weapon and would have used it had he not been overpowered by the two marshals present. Mr. Bigler was brought to Heber and lodged in the county jail to awaite a hearing. That night three young men from Midway drove into the jail yard; whether to make a jail delive: y or only to speak with Mr. Bigler is not clear. The sheriff took no chances, chanc-es, however, and ordered them to leave the place. This the trio did but stopped to exchange some unpleasant un-pleasant words before going. Mr. Bigler had a hearing on Tuesday Tues-day and was fined $100.00 and placeo under bonds of $1000 to kep the peace. The other three were fined $5.00 eacii for the part they took in the matter. Mr. Bigler has had the reputation of being law abiding and peaceabl heretofore and recognizes that his apprehension was a most fortunate occurrance and that it has kept him from bting guilty of one of the most henious crimes. .Wave. |
