Show UTAH STATE FAIR HAS BIG FEATURE "CARNIVAL OF COUNTIES" WILL HAVE PLACE OF HONOR Several Thousand Dollars Spent On Decorations, Etc. Will Be One of the Most Spectaeular Events Ever Held In Any Western West-ern State From reports received from Horace S. Ensign, secretary of the Utah Scate Fair, all arrangements arrange-ments have been practically completed for the biggest and best fair ever held in the state. The directors of the fair association associ-ation this year have undertaken ' the work upon a much larger scale and with the assistance of ' Gov. lpry and. representative men in the various counties of .the state have been able to make the representation cover practically every resource and industry in the State. The rapid growth of the state and the progress and developement being made are to be reflected in the fair this year, and judg-; judg-; ing from reports being-sent out each department of the big exposition ex-position will be full of interest, j The erection of the magnificent ! new coliseum has made possible a much wider scope in the live stock ! departments and the added facilities are being used to the greatest ad-tx'vantage. ad-tx'vantage. In the new coliseum are r exhibition stalls for 200 head of cattle, and in addition even a larger number can be accomodated in the sheds and barns outside. The interest in-terest being taken in the livestock division this year is possibly greater than ever before, and this depart- ment is sure to be one of the feat- 1 ures. In the buildings devoted to hprti-r hprti-r culture, agriculture, manufactures t women work, fine arts, poulrty, etc., t the same condition exists, and the d officials are having some difficulty in 1 finding space for atl the exhibits. " The new coliseum will be the cen- I ter of activities in the amusement L department, and it is promised that "- .'the best-amusement program that has ever been offered at the fair will be presented this year. The coliseum colise-um has a magnificent stage and seats 3500 people. In the center is an 'immence show arena, around which are the cattle and horse stalls. Two shows each day are planned for the coliseum, including the display of livestock and a big amusement program. On Monday night, the official opening of the fair will occur, and the features of the program will be i the grand "Carnival of Counties" which it is believed will prove to. be f the most spectacular event of its kind ever seen in the west. i Wednesday evening the Utah I Beauty Contest will be held and five jj competent judges will select the I I most beautiful girls among the I j qasans arid maids of honor repre senting the counties. Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings the live stock auctions will be held in the coliseum. Each afternoon during the fair there will be horse racing, with a big amusement program thrown in for good measure. Six of the largest counties in the state are sending Military bands to furnish music for the county days, and in every possible way provision has been made to full each day of the week witn something of extraordinary extraordin-ary interest. The fair opens on Monday Mon-day Sept. 29th, and continues for the entire week. |
