Show RICHFIELD ROUNDUP 1 COISTOOT: Dean L. W. Bailey the agricultural educator, arrived Saturday and was the speaker of the evening at the final meeting of the roundup and housekeepers' conference. Dean Bailey took for his subject the sug-(nificance sug-(nificance of agriculture in the public school and a large and enthusiastic audience greeted the speaker. Dr. John A. Widtsoe of the Agricultural Agri-cultural college and Principal Henry Petersen of the Jordan high school accompanied Dean Bailey to Richfield. Rich-field. At the mens' session the horse industry in-dustry w'as the subject of the day. Dr. H. J. Fredrick impressed upon the farmers the importance of the proper care of the feet and legs of horses and discussed horseshoeing. John T. Caine, III, encouraged the breeding of draft horses and discussed discuss-ed feeding methods. A fine exhibit of horses was shown during the afternoon. The results of the high school boys' stock judging contest was announced by Dr. W. E. Carrol, who conducted the contest. George Jensen of Richfield high school was first, Irvin Washburn of Monroe high school was second, Reuben Reu-ben Magleby, also of Monroe high school, was third; Reginald Petersen Peter-sen ot Richfield, fourth. The prize money which is awarded yearly in ' this contest is donated by the banks of Sevier county. The last day of the housekeepers' ' conference was of great interest. Mrs. ' Nellie Keilzie Jones, in her charm-' charm-' ing way, gave demonstrations in ; cream soups and rice dishes. At. the afternoon session her work was choc-'' choc-'' olate and cheese dishes. The women declared that this was the most suc-' suc-' cessful conference ever held in Rich-field Rich-field and that Mrs. Nellie Kedzie Jones can be sure of a hearty greet-' greet-' ing whenever she comes to Richfield. The attendance kept up the high standard to the Inst session. The roundup opens at Logan next Monday Mon-day afternoon. |
