Show Bad Fire At Round Hills A very bad fire occured last Mon- ' day at Birch Creek, north of the Round Hills in which the home of James Brown was entirely burned The home will be remembered as the one formerly owned and occupied occu-pied by R. N. Bennett but sold to I Mr. Brown some time ago. The fire occurred about four o'clock in the afternoon, the cause being doubtful but generally thought to be the old story of children and matches. Mr. and Mrs. Brown le" homo earlier in the day, Mr. Brown going to his father's place up next to the mountain and Mrs. Brown stopping at the Spence home to visit until he returned. Their two children aged about four and six years being left at home, the parents evidently not, entendine to be absent long. I As near as can be told, at aoout four o'clock the house caught fire and rapidly spread until the house was one monstrous blaze. It continued contin-ued to burn until the home vs.-. entirely en-tirely consumed, everything in and about the building being completely destroyed. Soon Mr. and Mrs. Brown arrived horror-stricken at finding their home in ruins but much relieved re-lieved that the children had managed to escape the flames and were safe from any harm. far no can be learned, no in surance whatever was carried on the place. A petition is being circulated in an effort to help the family tern porarily. It is being subscribed to freely we are glad to say. |
