On Saturday, Feb. 1st, the Fair view Relief Society held their Annual Ann-ual Celebration. A meeting w as heid in the me ting house at 10 o'clock. After the reading of a yearly report, a very good program was rendered c nesting' of songs, speeches ana music. After this every one went to the pavilion where an excellent chicken dinner was partaken of. This was followed by an interesting program, intersperced with music and games. Onr amusing feature was a grip race by five of the gentlemen. gentle-men. Also a grip and umbrella race by three ladits. Burt Tucker and Mrs. John Vance receiving the prizes. About four hundred people enjoyed the dinner and afternoon sports. The festivities closed with a grand ball in the evening. Tuesday evening about twenty-five officers and members of the Y.L.M. I. A., met at the home of Mrs. H. S. i Olson. After a short business meeting, meet-ing, the evening was' spent in games ana music. Reiieshments were served. The mutuals will give a national party in the pavilion on .Lincoln's birthday. Everybody is t invited to attend. 1 On Tuesday evening a surprise party was given at the home of JrL-nry Mower in honor of his fifty-fifth fifty-fifth birthday. A pleasant evening ing was spent in games, music and social cnat. Supper was served to over forty of his friends. The ladies literary club met at the home of Mrs. Wm. Christensen Jan. 30th. An interesting meeting was held and dainty refreshments served. Mrs. S. P. Melgaard was operated upon at the Winters hospital, Feb. 2nd, for abdominal troubles. She is reported as doing nicely. J. M. Turpin is reported very ill. Mrs. Lettie Swensen and family, who have spent the past three months heie, returned to their home in Canada lastweek. Mrs. Chas. Peacock visited relatives rela-tives at Manri and Sterling last week. Mrs. Betsy Jensen and daughter-; retuined lo their home at Grand Junction last Monday. Wm. J. Brady and wife left this week ior Salt Lake where they will remain some time. Born, to the wife of Clarence L. Turpin, Feb. 1st, a boy. |
