To The Pyramid: I with to ask the taxpayers of Sanpete San-pete c )unty a few questi' n Does anyone know if we have a County Road Commissioner or not? If so, could his service be secured long enough to travel over the county coun-ty road btwe.m Moroni and Mou.it Pleasant? 1 understand that the tax-payers are paying some one JSO.OO a month as County Road Commissioner, to look after the roads, but it appears from the condition of the county road between Moroni and Mount Pleasant that we have no one to look after the roads or the welfare of the traveling public, as the road is almost al-most impassable, and especially every ev-ery time that the farmers water from the Moroni and Mt. Pleasant ditch. If the taxpayers will observe the conditions of the road a few hundred yards west of San Pitch River bridge where water runs across the road, as if it was an irrigating ditch, and makes it almost impassable for a few days after each watering. The people have been willing to tax themselves for good roads, and the money should be spent on the roads, and not to pay an officer a salary. The state has been building a road in Moroni precinct this summer, and in my judgment it has been sadly neglected. The 'bar pits have been left rugged and very irregular and if a buggy or wagon should get out of the ruts and holes on top of the grade to pass another wagon he certainly cer-tainly would have great trouble to get back. A good man could keep a few miles up nicely. I have been waiting for the past three monchs for some taxpayers to complain, but I suppose they are all like myself, cannot find anyone to make a complaint to. Respectfully, James Draper. |
