Show j Fairview J Mr. "and Mrs. Andrew Nielson, an aged couple in their eighty-sixth year, and their two daughters, Mrs. Alma Miner and Mrs. Annie DeFries were visiting relatives in Mapleton and Nephi last week. They returned home by way of the Sanpete Valley to Moroni and drove from there to to Fairview. They report having a very pleasant time. The aged couple stooJ the trip excellently well. Mi', and Mrs. Nielson are excep-tionally excep-tionally strong and are enjoying good j health for people so aged. ; The Fourth of July will be celebrated cele-brated in fitting style this year: Commencing on the evening of the Third by an open-air Band Concei t ; in front of the Eclipse pavilion. Sa-I Sa-I lutes will be fired at break of day by Master of artillery, Jack Pearson, after which the Brass band, Marshall I band and choir will serenade the city j Goddess of Liberty, Miss Hazel De- Fries; Uncle Sam, LeRoss Christen- sen; Orator, Burns Cox and Marshall i of the dav, George Mower, jr. An j excellent program will be carried j out. Features of the afternoon J program are children's dance, athletic athle-tic co ntests and two games of base- ball between the Utah Fuel Team and the home boys. The Ladies Literary club met at the home of Mrs. A. U. Miner June 20th. As the day was very warm the meeting was held on the lawn in ! the shade of the trees. Dainty re-! re-! freshments were served, j The D'Arc girls met at Maud Carlston's June 19th. Music by ; Chloe Miner and reading by Hazel ; DeFries was the program, the girls ; did needle work. Dainty refresh-! ments were served. For their next ! meeting they are to have a hay-rack! party at the home of llis Christie Christenson in ihe mouth of the canyon. A bundle shower wis given to Mi.-s De:!a SuvWr.:i, one of June bride's, by a number of her 'chums at the home of Miss Blanche i iPoulson. A very pleasant evening I was spent in games, music and giv- jj ing advice to the bride. Dainty re- j freshments were served. At the , parting the girN procured an old baby ba-by carriage and the intended groom ( was roused from peaceful slumbers and ma !e to wheel the carriage full of bundles to the bride's home. Charles Tucker and Miss Delia Sanderson wei e married in the Man- ' ti Temple Wednesday June 6th. They : are among our most popular young people and .we wish them success, happiness and a prosperous jouney through life. The city has employed as its engineer engi-neer B. S. Kershaw of American 1 Fork, who is now surveying the sidewalks side-walks preparatory to laying the cement. ce-ment. Plans and specifications have been prepared and are ready to be sent out to the contractors for bids. The paving district contains about ft urand one-half miles and is estimated esti-mated to cost from $.0,000.00 to $11,000.00. Mr. Kershaw also has charge of the construction of cement sidewalks in American Fork of work aggregating about $20,000.00. |
