Editor of the Pyramid: The ladies and children who have to climb over the out stieched feet of the gentleman of leisure who occupy the bench m the side-walk on the corner of Main and State Street where Jens G undersoil has a bar, are very indignant. They are obliged to do this or get off the pavement. If they do that they run into a fang ( standing around the bar guzzling beer it is called "Near Beer" Oecause there isn't quite so much alcohol in J it as in real beer. The citizens decided by vote to prohibit pro-hibit tLe .ale of beer in a saloon, but here is the saloon Keeper on the busiest corner of the town in fu'l view of every passer by men worn' n t and chiidi en, selling half betr or Near Beer or Beere'.te, or whatever I it is called. Of course it takes double the : amount of Half Beer to make you drunk that it does of full beer. What about the moral effect on the young in a display like this? . If it must be sold, if the City needs the money, for heavens sake get it off the street indocrs where legitimate business is required to be. At least get where people dont have to step over the feet and legs of those who sit around waiting between drinks or run the gauntlet between full of -v bums and a crowd of soaks at the ( ' Bar. Other cities projiitit the sale of ( I Near Beer it is so near that old beer drinkess cant tell the difference. Citizen. |
