foil "--A . 0 cr Fiftieth Birthday Anniversary Celebrated by the Seely Family One of the greatest family re-, unions ever held in this county w'as that of the Seely family in celebrating celebrat-ing the Fiftieth Birthday Annivesary of the four honored Seelys, William H. Joseph, Stewart, and Eva R. Seely Christensen, which was held in this city Wednesday and Thursday June 26th and 27th. There were Seelys from far ap,d near that assembled in Mount Pleasant Pleas-ant to celebrate this great family reunion. Among the distinguised families who were in attendance were those of Orange Seely, Sarah Seely Tidwell, Don Carlos Seely, Hyrum Seely, Justus Wellington Seely, John Henry Seely, Miranda Seely Peal Oman, The family of David Seely, Joseph Seely. Stewaat Randolph Seely, Eva R. Seely Christensen Christ-ensen and Senator John H. Seely and family. Randolph Seely of Ca'-ifornia, Ca'-ifornia, John Lowry of Springville, Dr. S. H. Allen of Salt Lake City, , Edwin Pettit of Salt Lake City, Jos- : ephN. Seely, William Hutchinson, and Peter Meiling of Idaho, Mrs. Elizabeth Stevens, and Hettie Ste- ! , eples of Millard County, Ella John- 1 son William Woods, Wesley and j Sarah Bills, Maud Carlson and a ) I great many others. Large represent- ! atives of each of these families were ! i present and had the privilage of ; making their aquaintance with ' many of their relatives that they j had never before seen. ' An elaborate banquet was given j at the Assembly Hall Wednesday at ' which more than four hundred and j fifty people were served. Nearly j every family in Mount Pleasant was represented at the tables. The din-) din-) ner was arranged and served under j the management of Chas. H. Eating-i Eating-i er, of the Quality Market of this city. ) After the banquet a most interest- ing and lengthy program was rend- ered at the Opera House. It was too ) long to be given in one day so only j part was 'carried out the first day. There was music by the band. Song by grand children of Orange q Seely, Sr., and Justice W. This concluded the program for ! the first dav until evening when a dance was given at the Armory HaU i ' where all the Seelys great and small i)i ' enjoyed themselves in one grand ball. Seely II, told of the Seely Reunions and how they originated. origin-ated. Andrew Madsen, President of the Pioneer Association, made a short address. ' . Orange Seely, Sr., gave the presentation pre-sentation speech and presented four sixty dollar watches to the four honored hon-ored Seelys in accordance with the custom of the Seely family. These gifts were of excellent quality, purchased pur-chased from the local jeweler, C. D. . . . Strang, tne names of each engraved on the case. x Joseph F. Seely. son of Joseph Seelv in behalf of his brothers and .-isiers presented his father with ;i beautiful gold lockft on which was engraved the Seely family coat of arms. Speech on the Seely Family Coat of Arms by William J. Seely. The Seely famiiy Coat of Arms is a swi rd and sheaf of wheat. The signifiance of wnich is "What we gain by right, we maintain by might". Orange Seelv, Sr. was sustained president of the association organized organiz-ed for temple work. This concluded the program of the great family reunion. re-union.
