Show Ms. Peter Monsen Laid At Rest Is The Late Mrs. Peter Monsen. ! Mrs. Peter Monsen, one of Mount Pleasant's early pioneer ladies, died at her home Sunday afternoon at 5 o'c'ock. She was born in Sventrup, Turn-i Turn-i berg, Denmark, Sept. 11, 1835. Her ! maiden name was Dorothy Marie Christensen. She was married to Peter Monsen in the year 1S53 and became a member of the Latter Day ; Saints church shortly after their marriage. In December 1855 they emigrated to America, crossing the great Atlantic in a sailing vessel, taking eleven weeks and three days to reach America. The trip was a hard one and on their way over toe vessel picked up 34 ship-wrecked men. Upon arriving at New York, they took the train for St. Louis and then started on their journey across the plains by ox team in a company under the leadership of Pres. Canute Peterson, 'i hey arrived in Salt Lake City, in 1837 and lived there for one winter. In the spring they went to East Weber and stayed there one year. They went to Ephraim in 1858 and ! stayed' thereuntil the spr ing of 1859. when they moved to Mt, Pleasant where they resided ever since. Funeial services were held Thurs-lay Thurs-lay at 1:30 o'clock at the Souih Ward Chapel. "Bishop Jas.- Larsen presiding. The choir sang "Though Jeep'ning Tr als". Prayer was of i!ered by Andrew Madsen, "Resting j Now From Care and Sorrow.," was I rendei't-o bv the choir. Pres. Petei Vlatson, Geo. Ciriscensen, Pres. C. N. Lund and hiishop Jas. She was a faithful Latter-Day Saint unt che end. The chi)ir also sang "Sister Thou Wast Mild i and Lovelv," "Oh My Father" and "We Lay Thet Softly Down to Sleep," during the -services.
