SILVER STAR The Silver Star, In- 5 stituted in 1935, is granted to persons serving in any capacity capac-ity with the armed forces of the nation cited for gallantry in action which does not warrant the award of the Medal of Honor or the Distinguished Service pross. AIR MEDAL The Air Medal Is awarded to any person per-son who, while serving serv-ing in any capacity with the arnied forces of the United States, distinguisiies himself by meritorious meritor-ious achievement while participating in aerial flight.
