Show Fight For Ski Site Goes To Committee nf JffY l2 dV,C ledderS' Ski enthusiasts and members ot an interested public attended a meeting conducted in Mt. Pleasant Tuesday to discuss development of a ski and recreation area in Sanpete county. The meeting, held in the citv hall, was called and conducted by Dr. S. B. Rlgby of Fairview, chairman of the Sanpete count-commission. count-commission. Chief issue debated at the meeting was whether state and county funds should be spent for a ski and recreation area in kphraim canyon in the south part of the county or Huntington Hunting-ton canyon in the north end of the county. When it became apparent that no decision could be reached reach-ed at the meeting on either site due to the partisanship of those who backed the areas in which they resided, Dr. Rigby told all communities represented at the meeting to appoint a member to a central committee which he said would be charged with making a complete survey o' both the Ephraim and the Huntington areas; finally settling settl-ing on one or the other as the one to be developed. Communities represented at the meeting and those which will therefore have members on the investigative committee are: ;Mt. Pleasant, Ephraim, Manti, Gunnison,. Fountain Green, Fair-view Fair-view and Moroni. In spite of good-natured partisanship, par-tisanship, indulged in by those who addressed the gathering in behalf of their respective areas, all were agreed that the county is not big enough to spend money on two different recreation recrea-tion areas of the size proposed. |
