Show Utah 4-Hers Enroll In National Frozen Foods Prog. Utah has accepted the 1949 National 4-H Frozen Foods awards program, the National Committee on Boys and Girls Club Work has announced. Number of sectional awards and amount of, scholarships boti. have been increased this year. As incentives for superior rec ords of achievement in the pro gram, International Harvestei Company provides gold-fillei. medals of honor for county winners, win-ners, and a $50 U. S. saving bond for State champion. Sectional Sec-tional awards of all-expenst trips to the 1949 National 4-1 Club Congress in Chicago nex November have been increased from four to six, while the four national Fowler McCormlcl scholarships have been raisei' from $200 to $300 each. The 4-H Frozen Foods program, pro-gram, conducted under the di rection of the Cooperative Ex tension Service, is designed t-further t-further stimulate interest in farm-home economy. With the help of County Extension agent and local" 4-H Club leaders members learn to use freezin equipment and how frozen food: can add variety to the home- raised food supply. They alsc develop skill in preparing, pack . aging and freezing meats, poul try, eggs, fish, fruits, vegetables baked goods and other dishes. County winners named las year were: Gaynell Johnson BoxElder; Barbara Grimshaw Iron; Patricia Hatt, Salt Lake who also won State honors-Margaret honors-Margaret Judd, Summit; Ra-Ann Ra-Ann Hill, Utah; Marian Rhees Weber. |
