A dance will be held at Spring City in conjunction with the Thursday evening performance. The band last year, with a membership mem-bership which grew from only 18 at. the beginning to 28 at the close of the year, placed first in the Class D competition in the intermountain tournament held at Price. Competition Is graded differently this year than la.".t. Inasmuch as the local high school has. only ?35 pupils, it will be entered In the Class C division. In addition to the band enterine as a unit, the following soloists will compete in both the Manti and the Price meets for individual honors: Clarinet and saxophone, Eugene Peterson Pe-terson of Fairview; sousaphone, Bry-nnt Bry-nnt Jacobs; piano and baritone, Aaron Jones; trumpet, Spencer Covert Co-vert of Spring City; snare drums, Joseph Matson. It is hoped that a large turnout of people at the local concerts and dunces being sponsored by the band will occur, thus demonstrating in a practical fashion the people's support sup-port of the band, whose record and promise of still greater achievement make it deserving of such support. |
