Show It Will Not Mean Much Stud '.-nts of many institutions of learning participated in anti-war demonstrations about ten days ago. Spe.eci.hs were positive and resolu-t.ons resolu-t.ons in many in- tances declared forcefully that the participants would not serve the country unless it wa: being "actually invaded." While The Pyramid is thoroughly in sympathy with any effort to promote pro-mote peace, it violently disagrees with the assumption that war can be prevented by weakening one's government or by dividing the people peo-ple of the Un ted States. However, the student demonstrations will mean Little or nothing when the uund b gins to play. Much the same argument applies to the act-on of the House of Representatives Rep-resentatives in adopting an amendment amend-ment to the war profits bill which forbids he usj of conscripts except "to repel actual invasion." Everybody Every-body knows that war, meaning in essence the employment of abeolute force, also carries with it the implication im-plication that successful commanders command-ers will not obey laws that prevent the waging of victorious battles. |
