Show Something Wrong-Few Wrong-Few citizens will dispute the assertion as-sertion that something is wrong in a nation where 36,000 families receive re-ceive as much as 11,000,000 families. famil-ies. This is what happened in the United States in 1929. Secretary of Agriculture Wallace recently called atten'ion to this fact, questioning whether the 36,-000 36,-000 families at the top of the economic ec-onomic pyramid averaged 300 times as meritorious or capable or intelligent as the average family at the bottom. Moreover, Mr. Wallace stated what most of us believe, "that the economic rules ci the game have1 been loaded to produce difference;! far greater thar. would be expected expec-ted in a reasonable society." The necessity for a more equitable equit-able distribution of the national income has been apparent for some years to those who studied social problerrsi. T'a,ttatelly, .tljofje who will have to yield some of their hoard will make outcry and protest vigorously but the interests inter-ests of a sound citizenship demand that such, a wide discrepancy be prevented in the future. |
