Show Local CCC News Items Brigadair General Sweeney Visits Local CCC Camp Brigadier General Walter C. Sweeney, District Commander of the Fort Douglas District, arrived at the local CCC Camp on Wednesday Wednes-day morning. General Sweeney inspected in-spected the camp and stated that conditions at the camp were very good. General Sweeney commented comment-ed highly on the reading room that" this campany has. Major Mose Kent and Captain Rudolph W. Broedlow. District Quartermaster, accompanied General Gen-eral Sweeney on this trip. Tcw Junior Officer Arrives Lieutenant Cecil M. Scanlon, Inf. Res., arrived at the Mt. Pleasant 3CC Camp on Thursday morning from Brookfield, Missouri, to assume as-sume duties as Junior Officer and will be exchange, mess and welfare officer at this camp. This is Lieutenant Lieu-tenant Scanlon's first tour on active ac-tive CCC duty. Welcome, Lieutenant Lieuten-ant Scanlon. Mr. J. T. Young arrived at the 'ocal CCC. Camp the fore part of this week from the Ferron CCC Oamp, and is supervising work being be-ing done at the Mantl Canyon by the men from this camp. Albert Zeddies, Engineer at this camp, will be transferred - to the Price CCC Camp, Price, Utah, on March 1, 1938 to assume duties as Engineer at that camp. Engineer Coon who is Camp Engineer at the Price CCC Camp will arrive at this camp to fill the vacancy left by Engineer En-gineer Zeddles. Lieutenant Wilbur R. Carter, accompanied ac-companied by Enrollees Thompson and Brandes transacted business at Salt Lake City, and Fort Douglas, Utah, on Monday of this week. Foreman Harold Holt transacted business at Provo one day this week, returning the same day. Educational Adviser Vorpahl and his family who have been making their home at the Winter's Apartments, Apart-ments, have moved to 153 W. 3rd South Street. Lieutenant Kraft, Dental Officer, who has been at the local camp for the past two weeks, departed Wednesday Wed-nesday morning for Dalton Wells where he will do dental work at the camp there. "Smilln" Ed. Gallagher, Galla-gher, an enrollee of this caimp, accompanied ac-companied Lieutenant Kraft, and will be one of the dental team that accompanies Lieutenant Graft. Foreman David Cole, who has been connected with the local CCC as mp for the past few months, will leave Monday of next week for Moab, Utah, to assume duties as foreman at the Moab CCC Camp. The boys of the Mt. Pleasant CCC. camp are again quarantined. One of the enrollees of the camp has measles. The camp will be In confinement for approximately two weeks. Lawrence Caylor and Alfred Dawson, enrollees of this camp, returned re-turned from the Salina and Station hospitals, respectively, this week, and both boys see.u to be on the road to recovery. Twenty-eight men arrived from the Price CCC Camp this week and will be on detached service from that camp. These boys are working on a project that the Forest Service is supervising. The reading room at the local COO Camp is quite a popular place for the men of the company to visit. New lighting fixtures have been Installed, curtains have been hung, a new magazine rack and paper pa-per rack have been built and last but not least, a new Console Phllco radio has been purchased and placed in the reading room. With all of these facilities the men of 'he company have every comfort that can be expected. |
