Show Mrs. H. S. Walker Hostess Oct. 17 to Mothers Study Club Mrs. H. S. Walker planned a very interesting and pleasant evening even-ing for the Mothers Study Club on Thursday evening, October 17. To add color and fragrance to the evening baskets of Chrysanthemums Chrysanthe-mums and roses enhanced the scene. For entertainment of the group Mrs. Walker introduced Mrs. Gregory Greg-ory Antychow guest speaker and also Jennie Knight Brimhall of Provo. Mrs. Antychow, a Russian refugee refu-gee who with her husband escaped from behind the Ii'on Curtain about six years ago, told a colorful color-ful story of earlier and present conditions in her native land, the cause and result of uprisings, but most vivid was the story of her escape, when they fled through Austria, Poland and Belgium their final conversion to the L.D.S. church and through the missionaries mission-aries and the U.S. Consul made their way to America. Mrs. Antychow and her husband lived for two and one-half years in the home of Mrs. Mangum, who also added many fine thoughts to Mrs. Antychow's talk, by telling of her guest's many trying exper-ieaices exper-ieaices and of her great faith in the gospel and her great hope that she will some day again see her only son who disappeared 14 years ago in Russia and has not been heard of since. All the ladies present were deeply touched by the tragic story, but happy to hear Mrs. Antychow express her deep appreciation for America and all she has found here. Other special guests at the meeting were Mrs. Ella Jackson, Mi-s. Donna Ash, Mrs. Ruby Waj--nick, and Mrs. Elva Bezzant of Magna. Club members present were Mrs. Wesley Jense, Miss Es-telle Es-telle Fentcn. Mrs. Thomas Fenton, Mrs. L. P. Harvey, Mrs. H. W. Jacobs, Ja-cobs, Mrs. J. M. Macfarlane, Mrs. F. B. Newman, Mi-s. Lewis E. Ol-oin, Ol-oin, Mrs. A. R. Overlade, Mrs. Ford Paulson, Mrs. M. D. Radinall, Mrs. Harry S. Richards, Mrs. William Will-iam C. Smith, Mrs. Junius A. West, Mrs. Lavina Fugal. Mrs. Walker was assisted by her daughter Mrs. Carole Paul of Provo. Asy assisting in serving the tray luncheon was Mrs. Arvilla Harvey and Mrs. Ella Jackson. |
