Show Plans for Ski Resort Told to P.G. G of C Alford Davis, representing the board of direotors of the Seven Mountain Corporation, spoke to the membership of the Pleasant Grove Chamber of Commerce at the regular meeting held at the city hall- last Thursday night. Mr. Davis outlined the plans and purposes of his corporation in their project to build and maintain main-tain a year-round ski and summer sum-mer recreation resort in the Seven Sev-en Mountain area northeast of the Ironton plant of Geneva Steel Co. According to the visitor tha facility would consist of a huge pavilon and tourist accomodations located just east of the Ironton Works. From this pavilon a four-pas-enger gondola type lift would carry the visitors to 'Provo Peak' in the Seven Mountain area. From this location ski lifts would carry recreation enthusiasts to the ski runs in the winter and to the mountain scenic points of Interest in the summer. Engineer's of the Seven Mountain Moun-tain Corporation have done extensive ex-tensive world-wide research and claim that the Provo area has the best possibilities for this type of activity to be found anywhere. Mr. Davis called attention to the proximity of Highway 91 and the Provo Airport as a wonderful asset. He stated that the United Airlines had already agreed to establish year-round passenger service from Los Angeles or San Francisco to Provo at the low rate of $40 a round trip. "The entire project has been estimated to cost 3 million dollars, with the major part of the money coming from California Califor-nia and Eastern capitalists," Mr. Davis said. He also stated that present plans call for the sale of 1 y2 million dollars worth of stock to Utah investors. |
