Show American Fork Girl Wins Legion Oratory Contest Sarah Seibel, Ameriacn Fork High School Senior, won first place honois in the American Legion District IV Oratorical contest Monday Mon-day afternoon. The competition was held in the Pleasant Grove High School Library, under the direction of Karl Banks, District IV Americanism chairman. Miss Seibel is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.alph Seibel of American Fork. Patricia Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Brown of Orem took second place. She is a student at the Lincoln Hig-h School. Others who competed were Lynn Powel,, Provo High School and Marcia Tanner of Spanish Fork High. Miss Seibel and Miss Brown will represent District IV in the regional reg-ional oratorical contest slated for East High School, Salt Lake City, on Monday March 5. All of the youthful orators delivered de-livered a prepared 12-minute speech on "Our Constitution in a Changing World," and. spoke extemporaneously ex-temporaneously on the Constitutional Constitu-tional Amerndment "Trial by Jury". Commander LeRue Thurston of American Legion District IV presented pre-sented gold trophies to the first and second place winners. Judges for the event were Miss Estelle Fenton, Lyean Johnson, and S. Alma Kirk. |
