Show I : I f - MR. AND MRS. DAVID B. THORNE Openhouse Sunday Will Honor Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Thorne on Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. David Benjamin Thorne of Lindon will be honored on their 60th wedding anniversary at an open house Sunday March 4. They will receive their family, friends and neighbors at the home between the hours of 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. This well known couple were married March 6, 1896 and have spent their lifetime in Lindon. Both have contributed freely of their time and abilities to the development develop-ment of their community. David Benjamin Thorne was born March 18, 1876 at Pleasant Grove, now known as Lindon. His community work includes being ' secretary of North Union Irrigation Irriga-tion Co. since 1905. He has spent Service Award" by the Lindon Lions Club. He is at present Timp-anogos Timp-anogos Stake Patriarch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints, and has sei-ved his church in many other outstanding positions, such as bishop, etc. throughout his lifetime . Mary Eva Keetch Thorne was born November 20, 1876 at Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove, now known as Lindon. She has resided all of her life within one block of where she was born .except for three and one-half one-half years. Just recently she was honored by her Relief Society sisters, sis-ters, who presented a skit depicting depict-ing her life "This is you life Eva K. Thorne." She has served the 51 years as secretary and 21 years as a board member. When the town of Lindon was incorporated he was one of the board members. He occupied this position three terms He has served as president of the Federal Bank Board of Pleasant Grove, president of the Orem-Lindon Dairy Assn. and one of the organizers of the Salt Lake Federated Milk Board. For this outstanding service and many other not mentioned he was awarded a "Lifetime Community Relief Society faithfully, having served as president for 13 years. She is still preforming her duties in this organization as a Relief Society visiting teacher. Her record rec-ord is 100 per cent homes visited on her district for a period of 24 years. Five of their eight children are living: Milton A. Thorne of Richfield; Rich-field; Mrs. Alton (Fern) Bigelow of Springville; Jesse K. Thorne of Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Alvin (Louie) (Lou-ie) Gillman and Mrs. George (Mae) Jacklin of Lindon. It was during the past year that they laid their beloved son Clinton R. Thorne to rest. He was formerly of Richfield, Utah. Their posterity includes 27 grand-children and 11 great-grandchildren. At present they have two grandsons on foreign missions for the LDS Church and two grandsons grand-sons in the service of the United States Armed forces. |
