Show Funeral Rites Held Tuesday for Alice T. Holman The large funeral parlor at the Olpin-Sundberg Moruary was well filled Tuesday afternoon with grieving relatives and friends who gathered to pay last tribute of respect to the memory of Alice Thornton Holman, who died Saturday Satur-day at her home in Salt Lake City, following a long illness. The services began at 1 p.m. directed dir-ected by Don Earl of the Liberty Park Ward in Salt Lake City. Invocation In-vocation was offered by Jack Schipaanboord counselor in the bishopric. Speakers were Abe Greenwood, of Salt Lake City ,and Chester J. Olson of Ogden. Interspersing the speakers were a vocal duet, "Hold Thou My Hand" by Mrs. S. W. Hilton and Elwood Allen, accompanied by Mary Humphries; and a duet, "In The Garden" by Beatrice Fisher and Wanda Peterson, accompanied by Inez McDonald. Last speaker was Bishop Don Earl, who also expressed appreciation for the family. MorLey Steele .accompanied by Maiy Humphries sang the closing number "That's What God Made Mothers For", and benediction was pronounced by John P. Oldroyd. Interment was made in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery where J. W. Thornton offered the dedicatorial prayer. Pallbearers were Wayne Holman, Jene Holman, Hol-man, Jerry Burton, Art Holman, Bud Wilson and Lynn Peterson. Flowers were cared for and ar-rangeod ar-rangeod by Liberty Ward Relief Society. Mrs. Holman was born October 15, 1882, American Fork, a daughter daugh-ter of Oliver E. and Emeretta Phillips Phil-lips Thornton. Married Mr. Holman Hol-man of Pleasant Grove Sept. 27, 1905, in the Salt Lake Temple. Active in the Relief Society. She had resided in Reno, Nev., and Boise, Idaho, prior to moving to Salt Lake City. Survived hv her hushand three sons and three daughters, George T. Holman, McGill, Nev.; Elmo H. and Robert O. Holman and Mrs. Perry (Ella) Connell, and Mrs. Malon (Deon) Carter of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Morris (Retta) Oldroyd Cedar City; also .16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One brother, Ira Thornton of Boise, Idaho, three sisters, Mrs. May Crookston of American Fork, Mrs. Wm. J. (Sylvia) Peterson of Pleasnat Grove and Mrs. Eva Wilson of Garfield also survive. |
