Green, local businessman business-man and civic -worker, was appointed ap-pointed a member of the Pleasant Grove City Council, at the regular meeting held last Monday night. The appointement was made by Mayor Edward C. Roberts, Tuesday Tues-day morning. Mr. Green was appointed ap-pointed to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Karl Butler, who resigned because of the press of church duties. Mr. Green was born in Pleasant Grove, the son of Samuel J. and Pamelo Holman Green. He attended attend-ed local schools and spent his boyhood boy-hood and youth working on his fathers farm, here. In 1905 he married the former Blanche West in Provo. The marriage mar-riage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. The couple have one daughter Mrs. Barbara Williams and two grand daughters of Pheonix, Arizona. After his marriage, Mr. Green worked at several occupations in the local area until 1922, when he entered the sheep business and moved to Mills, Juab County. The family lived at Mills for twenty years. Returning to Pleasant Grove in 1942, he worked as a labor foreman fore-man during the construction of Geneva Works and for several years as a road construction foreman fore-man for Pleasant Grove. He was elected to the city council in 1947 and served for four years. At present he is a salesman for the Williams Insulation Com-; pany. Mr. Green has been active in civic affairs for many years. He was chairman of the Pleasant Grove Planning Commission, a director of the local Activities ( Association. He has been chairman cf numerous fund-raising campaigns cam-paigns for public benefit. For his church he has served as supervisor for the Senioor members mem-bers of the Aaronic Priesthood and is at present Secretary of the First Ward High Priests Quorum. In his new appointmnt on the City Council he will serve as chairman oof the commitee on City Property, City Parks and Recreation. |
