If he can't do it, Lehi can." That's right, those unpredictable unpredict-able Pioneers scorched American Fork 54-42 last Friday night to relegate the Cavemen to second place in Region Seven standings and hand the Vikings the championship cham-pionship of the region on a platter. plat-ter. This scribe predicted that the going would be a mite rough for the Cavemen arid it was more than that. The Pioneers are always al-ways tough in their own camp as the 1960 Vikings can testify. It took the PG's an extra period to beat thorn there, the first tima around. Lady Luck is a fickle gal and this time she turned her back on the Cavemen and smiled on the Vikings. Which is all for the best, since a tie for the championship champion-ship doesn't do either side any good. Fooling no one, Pleasant Grove beat Tintic 81-43 and BY High laid it on St. Francis 42-32 to ring down the curtain on Region Seven league play. So, after all the tumult and shouting Pleasant Grove, American Amer-ican Fork and Lehi will enter the Class "B" tournament at BYU Fieldhouse in that order. The double-elimination 16-teajm playoff play-off is set for Wednesday, March 16 through Saturday, March 19. In the PG-Tintic walkaway, Keith Alined, Viking center, ran 31 points,' which was perhaps the highest total of his career. John Lott got 14, Lee Schoonover, 12 and Paul Millar 11. In all, Coach Don Crump used two full teams and all except one player contributed con-tributed to the PG point total. Hansen was the best point-getter point-getter for Tintic with 14 followed by Bird with 9 and Jones with 8. The Miners should have an "E" for effort. They tried hard to stop the larger, smoother Vikings and were assessed 25 free throws in the process of which the Vikes converted 17. Only 14 charity tosses tos-ses were charged against Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. Tintic converted half of them.
