Show P. S. City Recorder Resigns Mayor Burton H. Ad.uns ami membei-s of the City Council conducted con-ducted a busy session Monday night. Several matters of urgent city business were considered and the resignation of two city employees em-ployees were received. M. S. Christiansen requested that reduced sp;ed signs be installed in-stalled on the street east of the Central School. He said that fast-driving fast-driving motorists were causing considerable hazard to school children. Public safety chairman Gerald Klemm assured Mr. Christiansen that more complete police patrol-ing patrol-ing of the area would be instituted institut-ed and if necessary, reduced speed traffic signs would be installed. A delegation from the Tim-panogos Tim-panogos Stake Presidency with Karl Butler as spokesman, met with the city council and requested request-ed enforcement of a high standard stand-ard regulation respecting beer taverns. The group opposed the licensing licen-sing of any more taverns and the revocation of current licenses in case of law violations. The group was promised full cooperation cooper-ation in their request. Bishop Lewis Harmeir called attention at-tention to traffic problems at the First-Fifth Ward chapel. He asked for no-parking signs in oertain areas to mitigate the danger dan-ger and confusion. His request was granted. Dean B. Powell, chairman of the City Health Council, requested request-ed that a city-wide cleanup day be set at some definite date near the middle of March. Mr. Powell was nromdsed full cooperation. Paul Adamson, member of the planning commission, reported that last Wednesday night the Commission approved the plans for improvement of Alpine Villa Motel. Mr. Bradford's request for a building permit was approved, providing that all cit yconstruc-tion yconstruc-tion codes were adhered to. The requests of Clifford Prest-wich Prest-wich for a permit to build a lounge on East Center Street and for a tavern license to operate ( the same, were denied. Mayor Adams recommended that Jack Cook be appointed a member of the Planning and Zoning Zon-ing Commissions. The Council approved the recommendation. City Recorder Millen D. Rad-mall Rad-mall tendered his resignation to take effect May 31, 1960. The resignation was taken under advisement. ad-visement. Louie Ramorini tendered his resignation as Dog Tax Collector effective at once. Mr. Ramorini Ram-orini 's resignation was accepted and upon recommendation of Councilman Gerald Klemm, Roland Rol-and J. Barnhart was appointed to the office. Mr. Klemm said that citizens with dog problems should contact Mr. Barnhart at his home, instead of calling at the city hall. His telephone number is SU 5-2322. He lives at 165 South Second East. |
