Show VIKINGS LOSE 21-12 LAST FRIDAY. OPEN LEAGUE PLAY HERE Both Pleasant Grove and Pay-son Pay-son rounded out their pre-season football games on the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 28. In an exciting contest played at the local ball park, the Lions dropped the Vildngs 21-12 before a fair . crowd of spectators. In spite of the loss, Coach John Gourley's young players showed potential power via the air lanes when long passes by Paul Haycock Hay-cock to Paul Millar resulted in two Viking touchdowns. The first one came early in the game and was good for 66 yards. The second was negotiated about midway of the third quarter and ate up considerable yardage. Both PG attempts at conversion failed. The Lion victory resulted from the stellar broken field running of Sophomore Kent Oborn. However, How-ever, the Payson touchdowns were scored by Paul Thomas in the second, Keith Drissel in the third and Greg DeHart in the fourth. Thomas and Drissel ran . for the extra points following their touchdowns and Oborn ran for the third conversion. Lehi and American Fork both ended the pre-season scramble with a clean slate. In games, also played September 28, the A.F. Cavemen downed Granger 13-0 and the Pioneers swamped the Springvllle Rad Devils 33 to 7. In other games played last week, Union lost to Wasatch 20-13 20-13 and BY High also was beaten. It's play for keeps in Region VII come Friday, Oct. 7. Lehi plays at BY High, American Fork travels to Uintah and Pleasant Grove entertains Union on the Viking field. The Union-P.G. hassel is scheduled sched-uled for 3 pjn. Admission prices have been set ait 75 cents for adults and 50 cents for visiting students. This game is one the Vikings should win. |
