Show Court Cases Up For September Judge Reports Cases handled by City Judge C. O. Newman for the month of September averaged more than one each day, according to the report released Monday morning. It was one of the busy months of 1960. In all 34 cases were handled with the 16 infractions of the speeding ordinances topping the list. There were also 11 other traffic traf-fic violations handled as follows: Improper turn, 1 ; Drunken driving, dri-ving, 1; Improper backing, 1; Failure to obey orders of officer, 1; Failure to keep vehicle under control, 1 ; Driving with expired license, li-cense, 1; Running through stop sign, 3; Running through red light, 1; and Reckless driving, 1. There were one arraignment for assault and battery, three dismissals dis-missals and 4 civil actions. Fines and forfeitures collected totaled $545. September was also a 'busy month for the police officers, according ac-cording to their daily log. A summary of their investigations and non-arrest activities is as follows : Petty theft investigations, 20; Juvenile malicious mischief investigations, in-vestigations, 20; Traffic warnings issued, 17; Dog troubles, 10; Family Fam-ily squabbles, 10. Accident investigations 7; Livestock Live-stock troubles, 7; Automobile inspections, in-spections, 5; Breaking and entering en-tering investigations, 4; Missing person investigations, 4; Gun troubles, 4. Investigating people sleeping in cars, 4; Truancy investigations, 3; Assisting at fires, 2; Peeping Tom investigations 2 and illegal burning of trash, 1. |
