Joan Lipscomb Wins the IGA 'Teenage Contest;' Awarded a Bicycle Joan Lipscomb, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Earl Lipvscomb, won out in the IGA "Teenage Contest" i which was sponsored in Pleasant ' Grove by Allen's IGA Market. Miss Lipscomb won the contest with a total of 64,613 votes. First prize gift for her achievement was a brand new bicycle. Second place was won by Hazel Dawn Chipman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harris Chipman, who polled 54,955 votes. Her prize was a flash camera. Third prize went to Mary Ann Moyle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Moyle, who garnered 46,849 votes. Her prize was an electric popcorn popper. According to Elwood Allen, of Allen's IGA Market, the girls are now eligible for the regional contest, con-test, and if one of them should -win out there, will go on to the national nation-al finals. Top prizes in the national contest con-test will bring to the winner a free trip to New York and a week at the Waldorf - Astoria.plus a 1951 convertible, Mr. Allen said. Forty-one of Pleasant Grove's most popular and comely young women between the ages of 13 and 19 were entered in the contest, Mr. Allen said. |
