Show jjBaiile Creek ; Breeze BY K. B. "Better a dry morsel with contentment, con-tentment, than a house full of sacrifices with strife. Proverbs. Life in our modern society has become so complex; our day-to-day existence so exacting; that we rush from one activity to another with no time to comtemplate the reason for it all. Homes are deserted during the day while parents work, and children are "farmed j out" with relatives, relat-ives, in-laws, and hired individuals indi-viduals who have little interest in-terest in the child's welfare, except the pittance they receive rece-ive for the services. The American home is fast degenerating into a place where people eat and sleep, only to regain re-gain enough energy for the next day's merry-go-round. Nerves are jangled, tempers frayed; as we leave -what we are doing half-done, half-done, in order to do something else more urgent. No consideration is possible for the problems of others; we have too many ourselves. oursel-ves. Divorce and desertion, once regarded re-garded as a social calamity, are becoming so universal and common com-mon place that they excite little comment and less condemnation. "Keeping up with the Jones," requires so much of our attention that keeping up a serene and lovable home envioriiment is of-times of-times impossible. If we would only realize that "we pass this way only once;" perhaps we could take the time to really LIVE in our homes and enjoy the peace and contentment that cost so little and means so much. So-long 'til Friday. |
