Show Clean-Up, Paint-Up, Beautify Campaign Scheduled For Next Tues., Wed., and Thursday Pleasant Grove Junior Chamber of Commerce cleanup committee is going to do "before and after" photographic documentary pictures pictur-es of the city's annual, paintup and beautification capaign, which is scheduled for May 1 through May 3, it was announced Thursday by Don Stubbs, President. The Cleanup Committee is headed by Dean Atwood chairman, and Merlyn Wadley and David Green members. "All eye sores around the town are going to receive the "before and after" treatment, and the Jaycees hope that th "after" effects ef-fects will be good," Mr. Stubbs said. Citizens of Pleasant Grove are urged to spend the first two days on their own property, and reserve Thursday to help with a civic cleanup project. The club has secured cooperation with paint stores here and in Lindon to give a 10 per cent discount on outside paint. Florists and nurseries are cooperaing with' flowers and shrubs. Mr. Stubbs also stated that the cleanup committee is urging that civic clubs of the city contact their members and arrange for a special cleanup project for Thursday. Thurs-day. The fire department, under the direction of Chief Richard Allred, has agreed to clean up and wash Main street. Mayor W. Robert Marrott said that the city will furnish two trucks to haul garbage from the city, in cooperation with the efforts ef-forts of the Jaycees in that department. de-partment. Mayor Marrott stated that all garbage must be placed in contrainers next to the streets. The trucks will haul no combustible combust-ible materials or car bodies. Merchants of the community will close on Thursday to cooperate cooper-ate with the general cleanup of the city. . To climax the day the Pleasant Grove baseball team will stake its first game of the season with a strong team yet to be named. The game will be played at the rodeo grounds, and is scheuled for Thursday, Thur-sday, at 5 p. m. "After everything is cleaned up around homes and public property the Jaycees Cleanup Committee, urges all citizens to go to the newly renovated ball park and get a preview of the baseball team which is entered in the Central Utah League this year," President Stubbs said. |
