Show Lions Club Holds Business Meeting President A. J. Rogers was in charge of the Lions Club business meeting on Wednesday evening. The meeting was held at the Alpine Al-pine Grill and five members of the American Fork Lions club were in attendance. They were there to invite the Pleasant Grove club to participate with them in their annual an-nual party to be held November 20. Three members of the local club gave short talks. Lealand Clark discussed the different varieties of alfalfa and their advantages. He had samples of alfalfa plants to show the way the bacteria causes the plant disease known as wilt. He explained what had been done in research on this problem and showed the results of the work. John S. Green told of the progress pro-gress being made at the Rodeo Grounds. The grounds were recently recent-ly purchased by Pleasant Grove City and an architect has been hired to plan a recreational area and city park. Permission has been granted for the drilling of a well and arrangements are being made to plant about four acres of the area into lawn grass. This is being done in cooperation with Alpine School district, Mr. Green stated. Gerald Belliston discussed the buying program of the Christen-sen Christen-sen group of dry goods stores. He also showed how savings can be made in properly routing shipments ship-ments of merchandise. It was announced that the next meeting, Nov. 19, would be ladies night, to be held at Alpine Grille Cafe at 7:00 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. S. Christensen will show their film of their recent trip to Europe. |
