Show Central School PTA Officials Discuss Important Problems At Monday Evening's Meeting The P. T. A. of the Central School have really donned work clothes, picked up tools and are all set for" a busy year of act-, ivities about the school program. At the meeting held Monday evening with P. T, A. President Viola Beers in charge, great interest in-terest was shown. The meeting began with community com-munity singing, led by Irwin Jensen and accompanied by Mrs. Gwen Adams. Prayer was offered by C. R. Clark, local school board member. Discussion of Health and Safety by Gladys Friant, with the warnr ing to patrons and the public. Please do not drive cars onto the school grounds, she said. When bringing little folks to school, please leave them at the curb, so as not to endanger the lives of other little ones. Again, remember that the space between the school building and the Third ward church is not a road any more. It was ceded by Pleasant Grove City to the school and is now a part of the school play grounds. It is one project of the P. ' T. A. to put up forceful stop signs to keep cars off the I tract which was once a street, 1st North, between 3i'd and 4th east. Leda Thorne talked on membership member-ship in the P. T. A. and of the importance and the value of being a member, j . Various chairmen of the organi-; organi-; ation were introduced. Principal R. S. Merrill after in-, troducing the teachers discussed school problems and cooperation of patrons; and also the need of landscaping the school grounds. Superintendent David Mitchell spoke of school requirements and needs. Another great need of the school is pianos. Anyone knowing of anyone any-one having a used piano for sale, please contact Mrs. Beers, Mrs. Erma Klemm or Principal R. S. Merrill. Following the spirited program, refreshments were served by the P. T. A. officers. The membership drive will be-i be-i gin next Monday and the organization organi-zation is this year asking 10c in addition to the regular 20c mem-beship mem-beship fee, to raise the scholarship fund, according to Mrs. Rose Pul- Icy, publicity chairman. , , r '"v & 1 i ' -':--.v . : "' i l - " '!"' i Jame 4. Barton, sonarman seaman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Preston Barton of Pleasant Grove, ttah, receives his diploma from the U. S. Fleet Sonar School, San Diego, Calif., from his commanding officer.
