Show Just For Kids ' Bones, the story of a Misunderstood Misunder-stood Mongrel. ' One spring morning- Johnny-Reed Johnny-Reed went out to collect his chicken's chick-en's eggs. As he opened the door, Johnny saw what he had seen for the last few days. On the floor was a pile of chicken feathers, all that was left in exchange for the , theft of another chicken. The young teen-ager (had suspected a j fox or dog for the stealing for I quite awhile and had kept his eyes I on the neighbors' dogs lately. As ! was usual on each Saturday morning, morn-ing, he visited his boy friend David Dav-id Rowntree. David was at home, wasliing the dishes. As Johnny entered en-tered the Rowntree home his eyes lit on Bones, David's dog under the table. His suspicions were im-' im-' mediately aroused by the sight of chicken bones that Bones was chewing on. "David, do you usually leave Bones out for the night?" asked Johnny. "No, not usually at this time of the year," said David, "but the last few nights have been unusually unusual-ly warm, so I thought I would let 1 him out. But why do you ask?" "Well, said Johnny, hesitantly, "To put it frankly, I've been missing miss-ing a few chickens lately." "But, kid, surely you don't think . . . ". David broke off uncomfortably. uncomfort-ably. "Oh, no, I'm not hinting anything, any-thing, but he's one of the biggest dogs around here!" (To be Continued) |
