Show jjBaille Creek!! : Breeze jj BY K. B. The Christian religion is now undergoing, what is perhaps, its greatest test since its advent over two thousand years ago. Considerably more than half of the world's population do not profess pro-fess a belief in Christ, and this number is increasing rapidly through the inroads of Communist Commun-ist spawned athieism that is spreading so universally. Is this menacing trend due to the fact that Christianity has failed as a workable way of life; or is it because the true philosophy philos-ophy of Jesus of Nazarath has never been really tried? I should imagine, although no definite figures are available, that at least ninety-five percent of the American people admit some form of belief in Christ, and yet how few of us really follow the simple precepts he laid down? What motives actually motivate moti-vate the behavior of most of us? In our national politics, why do men behave as they do? Is it because be-cause they have in mind the true welfare of their fellow men; or is it their own selfish desires that dominate their acts? In the continual conflict .between .be-tween industry and labor, is the golden rule the motivating force; or is each group trying to take advantage of the other, with no regard of the ultimate effort upon up-on society as a whole? True democracy and the true Christian religion are so closely related that one cannot endure without the other. If we believe sincerely the first statement in our Declaration of Independence, then our whoje way of life must be dedicated to the philosophy that all men ARE created free and equal; and as such should have equal opportunities. The eyes of the world are upon the Christian religion and the democratic de-mocratic way of life. It is up to us, who embrace both of these glorious principles, to see that they work. As Bruce Barton so aptly said: "I hope the time will soon come, when those who profess a belief in the teachings of Christ, will act as though they believed." |
