Show Manila 4-H Wins Honors At Utah State Fair Manila 4-H Clubs were among the topnotchers in their group at the Utah State Fair The 3-year Food girls won blue ribbon rating on their group exhibit ex-hibit record books and receipt files by Kathleen Allen and Nancy Nan-cy Lue Warnick; canning, 2 bottles, bot-tles, Shirley Swensen; 2 bottles, Arlene Harris; and 2 bottles, Kathllen Allen; white bread, Nancy Nan-cy Lou Warnick; whole wheat bread, Arlene Harris. Mrs. Merrill N. Warnick is club leader. Individaul home costumes, (dress and apron) by Norma Jean Warnick received blue ribbon. Norma Jean's display represented 1st year sewing club, leader Mrs. Harvey Smith Kathleen Allen received red ribbon rib-bon for her demonstration of packaging food for frozen locker. Kathleen also won the honor ofj being one of the 4-H delegates, who spent the week-end at the Carlton Hotel and enjoyed with the other delegates, interesting tour on Delegates Day. Carl Warnick and Melvin Harris Har-ris of the Manila Livestock 4-H club are elated over their winnings at the fair. Carl's heifer Warnila Colonel Patsy won blue ribbon rating rat-ing in the 4-H class on Saturday. On Tuesday in the open class Patsy placed 4th in a group of 29 heifers, she was one of a group of 4 gets of sire which was shown by Merrill N. Warnick and Sons. This prizewinning heifer also helped make a Utah County herd which received second place. Melvin Harris' two bull calves received a blue ribbon and won a red ribbon in the 4-H class on Saturday. Melvin is spending the week at the fair grounds tending the stock. Carl Warnick also had the honor hon-or of being named runner up in the pure bred Holstein calf contest, con-test, winnning 2nd place in 15 entries. |
