Show Funeral Services Held Monday v For Mons Monson Impressive funeral services were conducted Monday for Mons Monson, Mon-son, 86, aged civic and church worker of this community. Held in the Third ward LDS chapel services serv-ices began at 2 o'clock with Bishop Neil Y. Fugal in charge. Mrs. J. E. Hardman and Mrs. Leland Beers sang the opening number "In the Garden". Invocation was offered by Clark Bronson, a son-in-law. Mrs. Cassie Monson read a well prepared sketch of the life and work of Mr. Monson. Speakers who paid tribute to the thrifty, busy life of the dead man and his devotion to church and family were A. P. Wamick, Burton H. Adams and Bishop Neil Y. Fugal. Musical numbers interspersing the speakers weree a vocal duet, "I Shall Not Journey Alone" by George and Ivan Monson accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Warnick, a vocal duet, "Softly and Tenderly, Jesus is Calling" by Kenneth and Luana Monson accompanied by their sister, sis-ter, Mary Monson; a violin duct by Nadine Monson and Miss Robinson accompanied by Mrs. McDonald, and the closing number, "The Lord is My Shepherd" by Luella Moore Miller and Zina Moore accompanied accompan-ied by Leniece Moore. Benediction was offered by Neils Fugal. Prelude and postlude music was played by Anne West. The high priests of Timpanogos stake attended in a body. Internment directed by Olpin Mortuary was made in Pleasant Grove City cemeery where S. D. Moore offered the dedicatory prayer;. pray-er;. Pallbearers, all grandsons of the deceased included Jesse, Earl, Albert, Calvin and Kenneth Monson Mon-son and Howard Beck. Mr. Monson was born July 22, 1862 in Olseryd, Sweden, he was a son of. Mons and Bothilda Lund-gren Lund-gren Monson. He came to the United States at the age of 15, a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was baptized the night before sailing. sail-ing. He lived in Sandy with a brother Jens Monson, before going to Provo, Pro-vo, where he was a railroad worker work-er and a Brigham Young University Univer-sity student. He was married to Lydia Bro-berg, Bro-berg, November 11, 1886 in the Logan Temple, comin to Pleasant Grove to live. Nine sons and daughters sug-vive: sug-vive: Horace E. Monson, Ple'asant Grove; Maple Moore, Logan; Lillie Beck, Alvin E. Monson and Raymond Ray-mond E. Monson, American Fork; Elmer R. Monson, Lehi; Alice Bronson, Midway; Joseph L., Lew-iston, Lew-iston, Montana; Byron C. Monson, Murray; 56 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. |
