Show Funeral Set Saturday For Donald Slater Donald Slater, 13. son of Mr. and Mis. Warren Slater, 145 West Third North, Pleasant Grove, I drowned Tuesday afternoon when l the log on which he was riding in Blue Springs, capsized and he was thrown into the deep waters. The Blue Springs are located about one half mile west of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. Young Slater was riding a log with a companion, Ray Fillmore. 13, son of Mrs. Loren W. Fillmore. As the log turned the Slater boy was thrown into the pond. The Fillmore boy called for help and his cries were answered by La-I La-I Veil Boron, who was working in a I fied near by. Mr. Boren rushed j to the scene and attempted to lo-) lo-) cate the youth. Failing to do so, he rushed to townand reported to the police & fire departments. Of-. Of-. f icers grabbed a fire hook and rushed to the pool where Mr. Boren Bo-ren and Police Officer Don Walker Walk-er pulled the boy to the surface with the hook. Firemen led by Chief Richard Allred attempted to tevive the boy wiith the fire depai cment re-resuscitator re-resuscitator but he was pronounced pronounc-ed dead by Dr. G. Y. Anderson, Pleasant Grove physician. Donald was born in Pleasant Grove September 24, 1935, a son of Warren and Virginia Jacobsen Slater. He attended Pleasant Grove I schools and was a student in the ! eighth grade at the time of the accident. He had attended school during the day prior to going to Blue Springs with his friend. ' He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an active member of the Pleasant Grove Second ward Deacons quorum. He also was a j Boy Scout. , Survivors include his parents, two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Slater, 3 grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Slater, Lehi; and Mrs. S. Jacobsen, Pleasant Grove. The father of the boy is a worker work-er with the United Concrete Pipe Company, Pleasant Grove. He was out of town when the accident happened. Funeral services will be conducted conduct-ed Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove Second ward chapel with Bishop Reed O. Walker officiating. Friends may call at the Olpin Mortuary Friday evening and Saturday Sat-urday until 9:30 a.m. and at Mrs. Jacobsen's home until time of services. |
