Show Girl Establishes Six-Year Record For Attendance "Never absent or tardy in six years of school" was the record which won a prize for Elaine Loader at the close of school. The prize, a book, "Tittle Moss Back-Amelia," was presented to Elaine by the principal prin-cipal and teachers of Central school at a closing assembly held Thursday Thurs-day morning of last week. In the book were written some verses by the teachers: "Six long years you've gone your way To school you come never missing a day, And on this day we're glad to state That never once have you been late. If such promptness to duty you give You'll be successful as long as you live." Elaine is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Loader of this city. She doesn't carry a rabbits foot in her pocket, and yet fate was kind enough to let her have the contagious con-tagious disease, measles, chicken pox and mumps, in the summers or before be-fore she started school. "I nearly missed school one day when mamma was sick; but she wouldn't let me stay out and break my record", she said proudly. , When asked to what she attribut- ed he wonderful health she looked very apologetic and replied l use milk but I hate spinach, and only eat it if that is the only way to , get a piece of cake." I guess having to work hard picking strawberries helped make me strong. Or maybe it was walking a mile and a half to school every day." Elaine likes to swim in the canal which flows by the Loader farm. She likes all outdoor activities, and loves to live on a farm. She is not fond of reading, but is glad her prize was a book, so she can show it to her grandchildren and tell them how "prompt and healthy children were in her day." I n . |
