Show Record Class Is Graduated From A. F. High School The largest Senior class in the history of the American Fork high school was graduated Thursday evening eve-ning May 16, when 104 young men and women received their diplomas at Commencement exercises in the Alpine stake tabernacle. Dr. Carl P. Eyring of the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young university faculty de-j livered the Commencement address, and Glen Curtis Barratt and Lorraine Lor-raine Whitby, the representative students, delivered addresses on "Democracy on the Defense" and "Education and Democracy," respectively. respec-tively. The graduating class was presented present-ed by Principal Jesse M. Walker, and President James B. Smith of the Alpine district school board awarding the diplomas. The program pro-gram was carried out as follows: March of graduates. "Grand March" from "Aida", Howard Paxman at the console. "Where'er You Walk", Ladies Glee Elma Singleton, accompanist. Invocation, O. C. Day. "O Divine Redeemer", Ladies Glee, Elma Singleton, accompanist. "Democracy on the Defense", Glen Barratt. "Education and Democracy", Lorraine Lor-raine Whitby. "Carnival of Venice", trumpet solo, Alva goodall; accompanist, Anna Beth Smith. Commencement Address, Dr. Carl F. Eyring. Awarding of Diplomas, James Smith. Selection from Tannhauser, Orchestra. Or-chestra. Benediction, Rudolph Clark. Immediately following the program pro-gram the Commencement Ball was held in the high school gymnasium. |
