Show o New Home Of Public Library Is Up-To-Date In view of the renewed interest in the Pleasant Grove public library, resulting from the prospective tour of the Civic building and the new library quarters, the following interesting in-teresting facts regarding the institution insti-tution have been released by Mrs. Ethel Carlson, librarian. The new home of the library is beautiful and up-to-date in plan and equipment, being decorated in modern mod-ern design and attractive coloring. It has big windows with indirect lighting, some new tables, a librarian's librar-ian's desk, five new stacks, six built-in built-in shelf compartments, one magazine maga-zine rack. And, most important, 275 new books. Of this number, 160 were secured by the drive conducted by the library committee. Ten were contributed by the Mothers club, ten by the Deseret Book Store, several sev-eral by individuals, and the remainder remain-der were purchased with the regular book and fine funds. The old books have been put in good condition, 100 of them having been recovered, 200 of them rebound. re-bound. The Provo Book Bindery contributed $50 of the cost of the repair work. That the library is serving its purpose is evidenced by the report of circulation for the four months of 1940: total of 6,316 books have been loaned, and of this number, 3,025 were junior books, and 3,291, adult. The total of magazines let out is 701. . n |
