Show r . Would Change Driver License Law H. P. Leatham, director of the state driver's license division, has declared before the Utah-Nevada Safety society's 20th annual convention con-vention that, if subjected to driving driv-ing tests, from 25,000 to 30,000 of the state's drivers who hold "granddaddy" driver's licenses would fan to meet requirements of safe driving and after studying, study-ing, "5,000 still couldn't make it." He deplored the fact that the last legislature failed to enact legislation to outlaw the "grand-daddy"1, "grand-daddy"1, driver licenses and make it mandatory for all holders of the same to pass examinations for new driver's licenses. Those in posession of pre-1936 driver licenses have never had to pass an examination, it is pointed out. Seek State-wide Recognition The Utah Symphony orchestra seeks to become a "state symphony", sym-phony", instead of just a Salt Lake City organization, and is now poised for a $30,000 fund drive to carry out its objectives. Per Capita Income The Utah Department of Publicity Pub-licity and Industrial Development Develop-ment has received a report that the per capita income for the U. S. in 1946 has now reached $1,-200, $1,-200, more than dovjble the $575 average for 1940. |
