Show POULTRYMAN CITES NEED FOR RECORDS ON TURKEY FLOCKS With the purchase of turkey 'poults, growers should start keeping accurate records to make a complete study of turkey growing and thereby improve production methods, Carl Prischknecht, extension poultryman at the Utah State Agricultural College, Col-lege, states. Mr. Frischknecht lists six reasons for keeping complete records: (1) to determine net profit or loss; (2) to check on various methods of care and management to determine more efficient ways of carrying out these practices; (3) to make comparisons with other turkey growers: (4) to establish credit and confidence if efficient methods are employed; and (5) have statement available for filling out income tax sheet. Little time is required to keep turkey records since growers usually make one or two large sales of turkeys tur-keys each year, Mr. Frischknecht explains. ex-plains. Complete, yet not too detailed record books which contain expense, receipt, growth, mortality, inventory and summary sheets may be obtained obtain-ed at small cost from county agents. |
