Halliday has recently been assigned assign-ed to Camp Crowder, Missouri, where he will enter school for advanced ad-vanced radio work. Sergeant Halliday was inducted in the U. S. Army at Fort Douglas, January 21, 1912 and sent to Cavalry Cav-alry Replacement Center at Fort Riley, Kansas. After eight weeks of basic training he was assigned to the 3rd Tank Platon, Trop E, 15th Cavalry. At this time he was chosen as acting Corporal, "and in June, 1912 received a Corporal's rating. From then until January, 1943 he served in the Headquarters office at Fort Riley. At this time he was made a Sergeant and trans-fered trans-fered to Fort Maxey, Texas. May 16, 1943 he was promoted to Technical Seregant and was one of sixteen selected from his troop to be sent to school for advanced radio rad-io work. Prior to leaving for Camp Crowder, he enjoyed a short furlough fur-lough at home. Blaine was bom in Pleasant Grove on April 8, 1919, the son of Owen and Hannah Bullock Halliday. After Af-ter graduating from the Pleasant Grove High Schol in 1937 he attended atten-ded Bringham Young University for one year then transferred to j Utah State Agricultural College at Logan from which institution he was graduated with an A. B. degree de-gree in 1941. He was active in scouting and 1-H work and while at Logan lie was selected as a member of the Seed Judging team which won first in the Intermmniluiri Contest held at Portland, Oregon. Afler graduating from college he entered I ho Forest. Service and worked aM a Forest Kangor and guide at TimpangoHO Gave prior to entering the army. |
