Show Pleasant Grove Locals j Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Olpin spent Tuesday at Kphraim. Mr. and Mrs. John E. Nelson of Ly.nndyl, visited here Thursday. Jewel Paul is visiting from Magna with her grandmother, Ellen Richins. Leo Harvey and sons. Richard and Jean, returned: from Chicago, Monday. Mon-day. The Mothers club meeting has been postponed because of the death and funeral of W. L. Hayes. Rhodin Christiansen spent Tuesday Tues-day with his folks here. He is employed em-ployed at Salt Lake. Elva Eves Hodge, who has been living at California since her marriage, mar-riage, is visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Eves at Manila. Helen Swenson Reams and little daughter, Susan, returned Monday to California. They have been visiting visit-ing with Mrs. Reamss' father, S. L. Swenson. Miss Phyllis Hilton entertained Wednesday at 4 o'clock p. m. at James A. Nelson Is acting as. Rural carrier during the absence of Clarence Hilton. Mrs. May Olpin Mortejon of Ephraim, is spending the week with her mother, Mrs. Inez Olpin. Mrs. Vivian West entertained at dinner Sunday in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Byron West of Muncie, Lid. Miss Selma Johnson of California spent the week-end in Pleasant Grove with friends and relatives. Mr-s. Eileen Murray of Salt Lake, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Dickerson, and son, Keith. Mrs. J. P. Fugal visited part of the week with her daughter, Mrs. Milford Gardiner, at Afton, Wyoming. Wyom-ing. Mrs. Emily A. Pederson closed a successful six week's kindergarten class Friday, with a social for her little pupils. Mrs. Lawrence Monson and family fam-ily of Salt Lake City, spent Sunday here, guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Monson. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hunter of Midway Mid-way and Mr. and Mrs. Don Boulder of Salt Lake, visited on Sautrday with Mr. and Mrs. John Boulder. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Sorenson of Salt Lake, spent the forepart of the week with Mrs. Sorenson's parents, Mayor and Mrs. W. W. Lim. Mrs. Isaac Sundburg and son, Elwood, returned the first of the week from a month's visit in New York with her daughter, Mrs. Owen Cullimore. J Mr. and Mrs. Milton Davis and Miss Ellen Lyman, spent Sunday here with Mrs. Davis' sister, Mrs. Byron Monson, returning to Salt Lake in the evening. Mrs. Maynard Williamson entertained enter-tained Monday afternoon in celebra- her home in honor of the tenth birthday anniversary of her twin brothers, Joseph Dean, and John Neal. The Second ward officers and teachers of the M. I. A. met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. Winfield Clark Monday evening in a business meeting, after which refreshments were served. President M. S. Christiansen and Bishop F. D. Atwood are enjoying their vacations. They left Wednesday Wednes-day morning with their wives and families for a trip through Yellowstone Yellow-stone National Park. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Monson and family returned Sunday from Millard Mil-lard county, where they spent the week visiting relatives and friends. They were accompanied by Mrs. Evelyn Boyles of Provo, and were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Reeve at Hinckley. Mrs. Eliot A. Newell and part of her descendents met in a family I , gathering Saturday afternoon and' I evening at Geneva. Eighty-two ! persons were seated together at the i evening meal, which is only part of her numerous posterity. j Mr. and Mrs. James H. Walker and children, Emma and Ben, left Friday morning for a trip to California. Cali-fornia. They will visit Berkley and other interesting places. Mr. Walker Walk-er will attend a convention of Mac-Millen Mac-Millen Publishing company salesmen sales-men while there. The Second ward Sunday school officers and teachers, under Virgil ! Peterson, superintendent, held a most enjoyable outing m American, Fork canyon Thursday evening!. After Af-ter games, all took part in a steak fry, marshmellow roast, etc. j Word from Leo Pierce, who isi with the 10th U. S. Signal Service at Manila, Phillipine Islands, con-j tains greetings to his friends in I j Pleasant Grove and expresses his j appreciation of the Pleasant Grove : Review, which he receives through the thoughtfulness of one of the neighbors. Leo sings in a choir at Manila and delights in the many, beautiful scenes there. A pleasant social of Saturday evening eve-ning was a surprise given Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Thornton in honor of his birthday anniversary. Those responsible re-sponsible were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thome, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Jacobs, Ja-cobs, Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Larsen, i Mrs. Vance, Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Thornton, Max and Anna Beth Larsen, Lar-sen, and Luana Thornton. A pleasing social event of the past week was a patriotic lawn -party given by Mr. and Mrs. William Will-iam Stagg at their home Saturday evening. The lawns were decorated decor-ated in colored balloons and the 'games and refreshments were in keeping with the patriotic idea. Those enjoying the affair were: Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Ren Tomlinson, Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Swenson. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Leon-ard Walker and Mr. and Mrs. Owen Christiansen. |
