Show City Purchases Benjamin Condor Property The city recorder reported at the regular session of the city council held Saturday, May 25, that the Benjamin Ben-jamin Condor property had been purchased pur-chased for $115.00 with the understanding under-standing that the city would bring the abstract up to date. He further reported re-ported that the work on the abstract had been brought up to date by the Utah Title Co. and that the 3-4 shares of primary water right had also been transferred to the city. Jared Kellar was present relative to the work on the memorial stand at the cemetery. He stated that the general appearance of this stand would be helped considerable if a small walk was constructed around the same. This work was authorized. Written resignation as a member of the American Fork Fire Department Depart-ment was received from G. H. Varney, and was accepted. Jack Butte, secretary secre-tary of the- department, was also present and stated that word had been received from Charles Kelly, assistant chief, that he was employed at Bingham and would be unable to continue his work as a fireman. This with the resignation of Mr. Varney and the vacancy that already existed, left the department short three members. mem-bers. The matter of filling these vacancies was referred to the Fire Department with power to act, I Councilman Miller reported that many complaints had been received relative to the condition of the garbage garb-age dump. This matter was referred to the Public Property committee with power to act. Councilman Storrs reported that the Irrigation Co. was working on the proposed change in the waterway on the corner of 4th East and 3rd North, but suggested that the street superintendent super-intendent take whatever action necessary neces-sary to safeguard traffic at the point during the meantime. This suggestion sugges-tion was referred to the street superintendent super-intendent for immediate action. The Street committee reported having hav-ing investigated the building of a foot bridge across the old creek on 6th North but were not ready to submit their recommendations. The complaint as to the condition of the culvert thru which they were compelled to take their irrie-n.tion water was received from Mrs. J. N. Fackeral. This matter was referred to the Street committee with power to act. The purchase of an eighteen foot corrugated culvert to be installed at 2nd North and Center Street was referred to the purchasing agent. The condition of many culverts throughout through-out the city was referred to the street supervisor for action. A request for the extension of the sprinkling district on 2nd East from 1st South to the Ball Park was received re-ceived from the rroperty owners and referred to the Street committee for investigation. The mayor and recorder were authorized auth-orized to borrow sufficient money to take care of the current needs. |
