Show Postmaster Urges Early Xmas Mailing The post office department are urging citizens to shop now and mail early for early delivery for Christmas. The post offices will make every effort to handle the Christmas mails without congestion and delay, but owing to the enormous enor-mous volume this can be done only with the cooperation of the public. During the holiday time the vol-; vol-; ume of mail increases approximate-: approximate-: ly 200 per cent. It is a physical impossibility to handle this great ; mass of mail matter efficiently and : promptly within a few days. There-; There-; fore, to assure delivery of their ; Christmas presents, cards and let-; let-; ters by Christmas day the public should shop and mail, early. Do ; your Christmas shopping so you can ; mail your gifts, greetings and let-! let-! ters to relatives and friends at least ; a week or ten days before Christ-! Christ-! mas, according to distance. This will ! not only make it certain that they ; are received before Christmas day, ', but will be a great aid to your post-j post-j al service and to postal employees ; and enable them to spend the Christ-; Christ-; mas holiday with their families. All parcels must be securely ; wrapped or packed. Use strong I paper and heavy twine, I Articles easily broken or crushed ; must be securely wrapped and I crated or boxed. AH articles easily ! broken or damaged must be plain-j plain-j ly marked . "Fragile." Parcels 66n- taining perishable articles shall be ! marked "perishable" and packed ' in suitable container, according to ? contents.
