She also was one of the members on the senior relay team which won first place in the 440 yard relay. President and Mrs. Stephen L. Chipman and Mr. and Mrs. B. N. Christensen were among the guests who attended an entertainment Monday Mon-day evening in Provo, given at the home of Mrs. Nettie Smart, complimentary compli-mentary to Dr. C. F. Eyring, dean of the school of arts and science at the B. Y. U. Mrs. May Hammond was assisting hostess. Dr. Eyring is leaving in June for the Bell laboratories at New York, where he will be engaged in research work for the next fifteen months. Mr. and Mrs. C. Douglas Barnes and children, formerly of Salt Lake City, left Wednesday for Long Beach', California, after a brief stay in this city. Mr. Barnes is a graduate of the University of Utah, having received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1920, and the Master of Science Vlegree in 1927 at the same college institution. Mr. Barnes and family have spent the past year in Berkley, California, and he has just received the degree DeVon Edwards, who is employed at Stockton, visited Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Edwards. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brown and family of Copperton, spent Mother's Day visiting Mr. Brown's mother, Mrs. Lillian K. Brown. Miss Mary Shelley in company with Mr. and Mrs. James H. Comer of Lehi, spent the week-end in Idaho Falls, visiting friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Humphries and family motored to Provo Sunday, where they spent the day visiting Mrs. Humphries brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Anderson. Lorcn Bryner and Myron Jorgen-fien, Jorgen-fien, who are attending the Brigham Young University at Provo, were week-end guests of Dell Greenwood, who also attenkls the institution. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Tolboe and family and Mrs. S. G. Carter and baby, Carlyn, of Provo, were guests at the home of Jennie Cunningham on Mother's Day. Mr. and Mrs. Earle Dunkley, Earl and Helen Dunkley and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Glade of Salt Lake City, were Sunday callers at the home of Mrs. Dunkley's mother, Hannah Dunkley. Mr. and Mrs. John Buckwalter, Jr., and baby daughter, Joan, of Salt Lake City, were visiting Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. 'J. E. Buck waiter and Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Logs-don. Logs-don. Leland Priday was brought home from the Lehi Hospital Wednesday, where he underwent an operation for appendicitis two weeks ago. From last reports, he is doing very nicely. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Robinson and daughters, Lois and Faye, of Ogden, visited relatives in Lehi and American Ameri-can Fork Saturday and Sunday. Mr. Robinson is the manager of the Sperry Mill at Ogden. Mrs. R. L Kirkham and baby, Rae Mona, left Sunday morning for Washington, Wash-ington, where she will join her husband, hus-band, who is employed there in the interests of the Utah Woolen Mills. They will make their home indefinitely indefinite-ly in Kelso, Washington. The Sunshine committee entertained entertain-ed last Friday night in the First ward chapel in honor of Mrs. Rose H, Grant, the former Relief Society president of the ward. Miss LaRee Chipman, who teaches school at Heber, visited the week-end with her father, W. H. Chipman, and her sister, Miss Ann Chipman. Lenard Haag, Jr., who is employed in Wanship, spent Mother's Day with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lenard Haag. of Doctor of Philosophy in dentistry. They are making their future home ln Long Beach. An interesting social event of the week was the party given Wednesday evening by the Service Star Legion ladies in honor of Mrs. Ann L. Chip-man, Chip-man, a former president of the local chapter. Mrs. Chipman was pleasantly pleasant-ly surprised at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nellie Robinson. Contest Con-test games were enjoyed, prizes being be-ing won by Mrs. Lillian K. Brown and Mrs. Lillie Wilde. A beautiful gift was presented to Mrs. Chipman as a token of appreciation for her labors in Service Star work.
